Engineers Week Banquet 2023

HGS GM Canaan attended the Hawaii Council of Engineering Societies Awards Banquet on February 25, 2023 to cap off the first in-person Engineers Week in 3 years. Canaan is also the current president of EAH, a member society of HCES. EAH meets every other Friday at Topa Tower. You can probably catch Canaan there if you want to meet him.

HGS at the 2022 NUCA Construction Projects Preview

HGS attended and co-sponsored the National Utilities Contractors Association (NUCA), Hawaii Chapter, 2022 Construction Projects Preview presentation on September 7, 2022, at the Pearl City Country Club. 

NUCA consists of Hawaii’s utility contractors, excavators, and utility companies – water, sewer, gas, electric, telecommunications, locators, site development, and treatment plants.  These specialties have come together to form a statewide NUCA Hawaii Chapter of the National Utility Contractors Association (NUCA).

At this local NUCA presentation, HGS had the opportunity to visit with colleagues, Project Managers and co-sponsors from Hawaiian Dredging, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Statewide Safety Systems, Pural Water Specialty Company, and other attendees. Canaan Shon, HGS General Manager, serves as Chairman on the NUCA Events Committee.

HGS was represented at the ABC National Convention in San Antonio

HGS was represented at the ABC National Convention in San Antonio, TX, March 15-17, 2022. Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) is a national construction industry trade association representing more than 21,000 members.

HGS GM Canaan Shon attended the ABC National Convention. Canaan served as the 2022 ABC Hawaii Chapter Board Chair. Here he is shaking hands with Steve Klessig, the 2021 National Chair who is presenting the Superior Contractor Percentage Over 65 award to Canaan Shon and the Hawaii ABC President Jeff Durham.
The ABC Hawaii Chapter won the Superior Contractor Percentage over 65 award, which denotes that over 65% of ABC’s Hawaii membership consists of contractors.
